Technology – Will it ever replace good customer service?

SatNav

Technology is inevitably a part of everyone’s life nowadays. Our use of technological devices extend far and beyond, therefore those in favour of its future developments and improvements will be continuously benefiting from the ease it brings to the human world. Technology already has a big control over how we manage and live our lives, there is no shame in admitting that we have to be adaptable to its perks in order to maintain our presence in the 21st Century.

Unlike any other industries, the hospitality industry has a much bigger challenge when it comes to balancing the use of technology in their hotels, resorts or restaurants. The shear volume of different personalities that each of the customers bring to the hotel makes it extremely hard to please and accommodate everyone to their expectations. There still is a high level of hesitation towards the extent to which technology enhancements are implemented, from the customer’s perspective.

There is but one reason for this: a genuine fear that our escapes to luxury will soon become impersonal, fulfilled absence of exchanged emotions and dialogue will proceed to grow, and soon we will no longer remember how it is to be pampered by the waiters.

Here at getWaiter! we believe that technology is an enabler for good customer service and it should never be regarded as a replacement. Whilst offering a hospitality enhancement tool, we strongly believe that the waiter is the core element of the success. The best way to illustrate good technological intentions is to look at an example of the SatNav.

Technology such as SatNav makes us more efficient.

Much like a SatNat is unlikely to make you a better driver it can, however, usually help you get to your destination more efficiently and potentially with reduced anger.

getWaiter! aims to reduce the time between a guest making a decision to order food or more drinks and the waiter’s response.  Even a really good waiter can struggle to see someone’s hand in the air, whereas with the click of a button on the guests smartphone, getWaiter! logs the request and is immediately visible on the waiter station screen(s).  Each request is logged in turn reducing queue jumping and helping new staff deliver good, efficient service.

People have voted for SatNavs around the world by universally adopting them to make their lives more efficient.

Put your map away and give your guests and waiters what they deserve – getWaiter!
